Nail Down your Guest List

A tragic mistake we see couples make is to start out by saying they will elope just the two of them, but then they start feeling guilty enough to invite more and more guests until it becomes a headache! There is nothing wrong with inviting guests just like there is absolutely nothing wrong with eloping just the two of you. The mistake to avoid — not setting your limits before you start inviting guests. Discuss between the two of you what you want your ceremony size to be and then you can make your guilt-free guest list. Once you have made the list, stick to it!

What is a Small Wedding?

Not Sending Stationery

If you decide to invite guests, great! Make sure to send them an invitation. No need to send a save the date card, the invitation is enough. If you have decided not to invite any guests, make sure to send an announcement card to the people most important to you. By sending a personal announcement, friends and family will be much happier than by hearing about your wedding on social media.

Cheating yourselves on your budget

Just because you’re eloping doesn’t mean you need to skimp out! Since there will be a much smaller guest count, there will naturally be a smaller budget — the mistake that we need you to avoid is limiting yourselves with a stifling budget. Couples get a strange idea that their elopement should be free or close to it. They think that with their small wedding, they can just have a family member or friend pronounce them married and that this will be enough. Sure that is one way to elope, but you will forever regret not getting the dress, the photographer, the flowers, the hair and makeup, the music, and so many other gorgeous elements that make your mini wedding the luxury ceremony you’ve always dreamed of.

Not Celebrating Afterwards

Having a small wedding doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate! Make sure to make post-elopement celebration plans — if it’s just the two of you, plan a special romantic evening before heading to your honeymoon. If you invited guests, treat them to a nice dinner.
